Triathlete Tom is competing at an elite level again, plus PACTRAC results
PACTRAC triathlon star Tom Hughes is once more competing at an elite age group level.
Hughes has gone up an age group in the the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super-Series. He will race against the cream of the country’s 17-18 year-olds after finishing 16th at the level below last season.

And Hughes started the new season with a solid 31st place finish in the opening performance weekend of the season at Kendrew Barracks, Cottesmore, one which consisted of a 400m swim time trial and a combined bike-run trial over 6.25 miles and 2 miles respectively.
Having exited the swim in 44th place, Hughes held his own on the bike before moving through the field with the 17th fastest run to finish in 30.57.
Elsewhere PACTRAC’s Verity Miles came 3rd overall and won her age group in the Roade Aquabike near Northampton in a time of 53.59, while Steve Hope raced to second in his age group at the Grantham Triathlon in 87.11.
The 8-event PACTRAC Wednesday night Mini-Series starts from May 27 and continues through to July 15. The events cover a 400m swim in Oundle's pool followed by a 9-mile, 1-lap bike course and a 3.1 mile out-and-back run.
