Rollercoaster weekend for local superbike star at Donington Park

​​Guyhirn’s British Supersport rider Harry Cook experienced a rollercoaster weekend at Donington Park for Round 10 of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship.

The youngster showcased resilience in the face of adversity while also revealing promising plans for his future in racing.

Cook, competing in the HEL Supersport Cup class aboard his MV Agusta, started the weekend with optimism. In free practice 2, he posted a time of 1:35.327, placing him 32nd overall and fourth in the Cup class.

Qualifying saw Cook improve his time to 1:34.561, securing 34th on the grid and sixth in the Cup class, but Saturday's sprint race proved challenging, with Cook finishing 29th overall and seventh in the Cup class. His fastest lap of 1:34.458 showed consistency with his qualifying pace.

The following morning brought drama as Cook crashed during the warm-up session. This setback put immense pressure on his team to prepare the bike for the afternoon's feature race. Despite the challenges, Cook and his crew showed remarkable determination, managing to make the grid for Race 2.

In the feature race, Cook finished 29th overall and sixth in the Cup class with a best lap of 1:34.929.

Amidst the on-track challenges, Cook made a significant announcement as he revealed he will be joining Triumph Racing as a Supported Triumph Racing Rider for the 2025 season, competing in the Sportbike Championship.

"I'm excited to announce that I'll be riding for Triumph Racing in 2025," said Cook. It's an honour to join such an iconic British brand, and I'm looking forward to this new chapter. The warm welcome I've received already from the Triumph Family has been incredible."

As Cook looks to finish the 2024 season strong, the announcement of his 2025 plans adds an extra layer of excitement to his racing journey.
