Record-breaking Wolves Den boxers at the Eastern Counties Championships
Chrissy Smith has broken an Eastern Counties Boxing record.
The fighter from the local Wolves Den Club won an Eastern Counties Challenge belt in just his third competitive bout, the fastest title win on record.

Smith stopped the more experienced Jesse Gatehouse in the second round in Billericay after surviving a flurry of in the opening stages. The local lad didn’t panic and gradually wore his opponent down with some devastating body shots accompanied by attacks to the head.
Smith won’t be one of four Wolves Den Boxers to contest the National Finals, a fine achievement as no other club has more than one fighter involved.

Marley Rutherford has qualified after coming back from a six-month lay-off with a bicep tear to beat Haley Barford on points in his Regional Final.
Rutherford was up against a front footed aggressive boxer, but he used his jab effectively to keep his opponent at bay, while also landing plenty of punches himself.
And Marcus Abraham will compete in the senior National Finals after a career best display to land the Eastern Region crown.
Abraham outboxed and outgunned a strong and durable opponent for three rounds. He used a great variety of shots and landed the more powerful punches to win comfortably.
Abraham and Rutherford will be joined by star Wolves Den women Izzy Coston and Chloe Giglio at the National Finals.
Less experienced Wolves Den boxers Patrick and Nathan Smith took part in skills (non-scoring) bouts in Billericay and did well enough to suggest they are ready for competitive fights.
