Perfect season completed by Peterborough Rugby League Club after pulsating Grand Final victory
Peterborough Rugby League Club completed a perfect season by winning the Midlands Division One Grand Final on Saturday.
The city side were pushed hard by Staffordshire Quantums at a neutral venue in Mansfield before emerging victorious 30-28. The success completed a perfect season of 13 wins in 13 matches for a team who relocated to the Fengate home of Peterborough RUFC from Deeping in the close season.

From the opening whistle, Borough made it clear they were not going to give Staffordshire an easy ride. The opening 15 minutes saw Chris Sykes, Henry
Hobson and Declan O’Neill lead a ferocious defensive effort, putting in a series of heavy tackles to keep the Quantums at bay to set the tone for a memorable final.
Ciaran Thompson's kicking ultimately proved to be the difference between the two teams, with his accuracy from the tee providing crucial points in a
tightly fought contest.
His contribution of a try, four conversions and a penalty earned him the deserved honour of ‘player-of-the-match’ while Dylan Evans produced another outstanding performance, scoring two tries to take his season’s tally to an incredible 18, the most in the division.
Dan Foreman and Sykes also scored tries.
Borough had earned their place in the final with a 50-36 victory over Leamington in a fiercely contested semi-final at Fengate.
