Jarman (19) will compete alongside GB’s Olympic champion Max Whitlock in Basel, Switzerland between April 21-25.

It’s a hugely important selection for Jarman who has leapfrogged several more experienced gymnasts to make the six-strong team. It can only help Jarman in his ultimate dream of competing in the Tokyo Olympics later this year.

British Gymnastics are currently running Olympic trials. They have three separate trials being held at Lilleshall (National Sports Centre) that have been set-up behind closed doors, but mirror competition events with regulated judging.

The European Championships is an additional event that will be included within the Olympic selection.

Jarman will be competing in all six pieces of apparatus in Basle.

His strongest pieces are floor & vault where his routines are recognised as ‘world class’ and providing he keeps clean should give him the greatest chance of medalling.

Jarman is a member of the Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club. His coach is Ben Howells.
