Gary skipped to a second successive snooker shootout title at the Court Club

Gary Skipworth became the first man to successfully defend the Snooker Shoot-Out title at the Court Club, Bretton, on Sunday.

The 53 year-old defeated Huntingdon's Richard Apperley 72-18 in the final to lift the Mark Housden Trophy and claim the £275 top prize.

Skipworth continued his recent dominance on the Legends Tour by beating Steve Martin in round one, former professional Tony Brown on the final pink and Dan Burt on his way to the title match, where he eased to victory.

Apperley, who collected £140 as runner-up, edged past veteran Vaughan Lutkin in the opening round, secured a thrilling re-spotted black triumph over Peterborough's Martyn Witton in the quarter-finals before posting a victory over Spalding's Jason Green in the last four.

Next month sees the tour move to the Broadway Club in Peterborough for the Snooker Classic, where 16 players will compete for the champion's prize of £600.
