England captaincy honour for Peterborough & Nene Valley Athletic Club star
Peterborough & Nene Valley Athletic Club star Lawson Capes will captain his country in Sweden next month.
Capes, who is just 17, will lead the England Under 20 team in the Vaxjo Throws International. It will be third season in a row Capes has been picked for England for this event. He will be doubling up in the shot and discus events.
Capes is also aiming to gain his first Great Britain vest for the Loughborough International in May as part of that Under 20 team.
Capes now enters his first season in the under 20 age group and has started the season well by throwing 17.00m with the new and heavier 6kg shot, which put him straight to the top in the UK rankings.
