Capes wins his fifth successive English Schools title, Jenkins was a record breaking holidaymaker, England debut for Jones
PANVAC star Lawson Capes won the English Schools shot put title for the fifth time in a row at Birmingham over the weekend.
Competing in the senior boys competition, Capes threw a distance of 17.74m to secure his latest gold medal.

There were 10 other PANVAC athletes in action in the championship, and Sean O’Donnell finished sixth in the senior boys 200m with a time of 22.47. Iris Kwakye made the final of the intermediate girls 200m finishing eighth with a 25.51 clocking.
Alex Allen threw the discus 41.56m to finish eighth in the intermediate boys event. George Smith placed ninth in the junior boys javelin with a 42.90m throw.
The other PANVAC athletes didn't advance from their heats, but there were still some quality performances, not least from Lewis Legge who ran a 1:56.35 personal best (PB) in the intermediate boys 800m. Louie Hemmings clocked 9:21.47 in the intermediate boys 3,000m. The track temperature at the time of the race was up in the 90s and it proved a struggle for many of the runners.
Harry Collister ran a time of 52.12 in the senior boys 400m with Charlotte Smith clocking 67.99 in the senior girls race. Alfie Oloare hurt his hip quite badly before the junior boys 100m. He wanted to run as it was his first major championship, but the injury hampered him and he ran a time of 12.94, a second and a half down on his usual time. Elyse Morgan clocked 26.11 in the junior girls 200m.
RECORD BREAKER
PANVAC thrower Andrea Jenkins took time off from her summer holiday at Thessaloniki on the Greek coast to take part in an athletics competition, and returned to England with a new British record.
Jenkins threw the hammer 49.92m in the EMA Speed Masters competition, beating her own national over 50 record by a good two metres. Not only did she set a new British record, but she won the event and recorded the longest hammer throw of the year by an over 50 woman anywhere in Europe.
ENGLAND DEBUT
Helpston Harrier Ruth Jones made her England Masters debut in Shropshire on Saturday at the Shrewsbury 5k.
It was a blistering hot afternoon, and the heat took its toll on the athletes. Jones still acquitted herself well going round in a time of 20:30.
