Harris, who will always be remembered for his stunning win in the 2007 British Grand Prix in Cardiff, is already in training and ready for when the tapes go up on the new season.

He joins new signing Bjarne Pedersen as the two confirmed starters for team manager Rob Lyon’s outfit.

Harris said: “It was such a shame last season got cancelled, especially as I was really looking forward to riding for Peterborough.

“But thankfully I’ve managed to keep my spot in the team with everything that’s going on with the rules and everything else in the world.

“I’m happy to be back, and it’s great to be working with Colin Pratt (promoter) again.”

Panthers have been forced to make team changes because Niels-Kristian Iversen and Rohan Tungate have signed for Polish clubs and are restricted on what other leagues they can compete in.

And a further switch will need to be made as the club need to sign a British youngster from the list of rising stars under a new British speedway initiative.

Harris, meanwhile, is delighted with last week’s signing of the experienced Dane Pedersen.

He said: “It’s fantastic to have someone with the sort of scoring power Bjarne’s had over the years, and he’s always been the ultimate professional.

“He does things right and it will be good to ride with him. Obviously I know the rest of the boys pretty well, so I can’t see why we shouldn’t still be up there battling.”

Elsewhere in the Premiership neighbours King’s Lynn have confirmed the comeback of Lewis Bridger and have also stated their desire to include Craig Cook.

Wolverhampton released Jacob Thorssell on Monday and on the same day Sheffield added Jack Holder to Kyle Howarth and Troy Batchelor to their side.

It’s hoped the new Premiership season will start in May.
