A pair of Peterborough Sports stalwarts have left the club

Highly-regarded goalkeeper Peter Crook and veteran striker Mark Jones have left Peterborough Sports.

Crook spent more than four seasons at PIMS Park and racked up 209 appearances. He suffered a more difficult season in 2025-26 as Sports were relegated from the National League North.

Crook is expected to sign for another National League North club with Spalding United one of those believe to be interested. Spalding boss Jimmy Dean worked with Crook at Spalding.

Given four former Stamford AFC players have already followed manager Graham Drury to Sports, it wouldn’t be the greatest surprise if goalkeeper Tom Jackson makes the same journey. Jackson said farewell to Stamford fans on social media last week.

And long-serving striker Mark Jones will also be leaving PIMS Park. Jones has spent 10 seasons with Sports and was a key man in the club’s surge up the divisions to National League North level.

Club records show Jones made 341 appearances for Sports and scored 131 goals.
