MINOR COUNTIES: Cambs on the rack thanks to Cawkwell

It was a tough day (July 4) in the field for Cambridgeshire in their Minor Counties Championship match against Suffolk at Copdock.

After losing their final five wickets for just 37 and thus surrendering a first innings lead of 13, Cambs toiled away for 95 overs as Suffolk piled up 317-8 in their second innings.

Peterborough Town paceman Joe Dawborn did claim two early wickets, but 143 from Jed Cawkwell and 97 from Tom Huggins delivered a dominant position for Suffolk ahead of the final day’s play (July 5).

Town all-rounder, and Cambs skipper, Lewis Bruce, and Wisbech seamer Sam Rippington bowled well in Suffolk’s first innings of 150, taking nine wickets between them.
