The Welsh blue-liner has been a big hit during the past two seasons at Planet Ice – helping the city club to an honours treble last term.

Buglass has again impressed in the current campaign, which looks certain to be cut short by the Coronavirus outbreak, with Phantoms sitting third in the NIHL National Division and being runners-up in the NIHL National Cup.

Former Great Britain Under 18 and Under 20 international Buglass said: “I’m very happy to be in Peterborough for the next two years.

“We have an amazing group of guys here and it’s great to be part of such a good team.

“I love being able to compete for every possible trophy and hopefully thanks will continue.”

Buglass has contributed 21 points this season with three goals and 18 assists. His haul includes a memorable Christmas overtime winner against arch-rivals Milton Keynes.

Phantoms head coach Slava Koulikov said: “Callum is a huge asset to the team. He’s proved himself to be one of the best British defencemen in the league.

“Callum is a great person as well as a top player who always has a team-first attitude and does everything with a smile on his face.

“It was a no-brainer to bring him back for the next two seasons.”

Phantoms made only one change to their roster from 2018/19 to the current season with James White retiring and Connor Pollard stepping up from their second team.

But there will be more movement this summer with captain James Ferrara and brother Robbie Ferrara both retiring.
