The 27 year-old first played for Phantoms in the 2010-11 campaign, but moved on to play for Whitelink and MK before returning to the city to join the Islanders, the Phantoms back-up team, in 2014.

Some steady performances over several seasons earned Pollard a promotion to the Phantoms senior side for last season when he claimed 20 points (six goals, 14 assists), several of them in the team’s biggest games.

Phantoms coach Slava Koulikov said: “I was happy with Conor’s transition from Phantoms 2 to Phantoms 1 last year. He took it really seriously, prepared well in the summer and his progression throughout the season was clear to see.

“He’s a player who thrives on scoring goals, but he understood it wouldn’t be as easy as it was for Phantoms 2, yet he still came up with some big goals for us especially in the second half of the year. His hockey IQ has improved a lot and shows again how serious and professional he is.

“I’m very pleased to see another local player re-sign and it creates a good competition for places. We have young guys who improve every year and I believe Conor’s full second year with us will be good for us and him, and he’ll play a big part in our line up.”

Pollard added: “I’m super-excited to be back for another season with the Phantoms. Speaking to Slava over the past few weeks about his plans for the upcoming season made it an easy decision for me. We have such a tight knit group it makes it so easy to get along with everyone.

“And also to be able to play in front of the best fans in the league makes it that much better. I’m already counting down the days until we can get the season underway.”
