Andrew Gausden.

Lou’s peg six is always the one to draw and it fell to Andy Gausden. And, although he struggled at first, a late run of big fish saw him win with 154lb 10oz.

OVER 55s

There was a very good turnout for the Decoy Over 55s match, which was split between the Horseshoe and Four Islands pools on Friday.

Both lakes fished well despite a stiff cool breeze.

The top weight on Horseshoe was Mick King’s 162lb 2oz on peg 14 with Phil Jones (119lb 9oz) second on peg 13.

Best on Four Islands was Gordon Parker with 145lb 2oz on peg four. Runner-up was Chris Saunders on peg 10 with 124lb 11oz.

Once again it was a very busy week of matches at Rookery Waters.

On Wednesday the Over 60s Open on Magpie Lake was won by Steve Tyler on peg two. He fished maggot and corn down the edge, to finish with an impressive 197lb 12oz of carp from 3lb up to double figures.

Runner-up was Ray Pulman on peg 31 with 186lb, then came Dave Lack on peg 30 with 176lb.

On Saturday it was another of the Winter Qualifier events on the Raven Lake.

Peterborough-based Ben Townsend continued his recent excellent form on the venue by securing top spot from peg four with 123lb.

A close second on peg three with 116lb was Simon Easey and then came Ricky Ashwell in third place from peg 20 with 113lb 6oz.
