Well played the women and girls who are committed to finishing the Cambs League football season
The Cambs Womens & Girls League are determined to complete their 2020-21 season.
They are the only local Football League to take this approach and there are a handful of fixtures this weekend before the vast majority of clubs return to action on the weekend of April 10/11.
Table-topping ICA Sports have an under 18 fixture at Haverhill on Saturday (April 3), while high flying women’s team Whittlesey Athletic - they are currently second - have a Premier Division game at home to Ketton on Sunday (2pm, Feldale Field).
Peterborough United Girls under 16s are also in action on Saturday. They host Eynesbury at AFC Stamford (11.30am). Posh are currently third in the A Division.
Fixtures: Saturday: Under 18 League: Haverhill Rovers v ICA Sports. Under 16A League: Peterborough United v Eynesbury Rovers. Under 13 League: March Academy v Leverington Sports.
Sunday: Premiership: Whittlesey Athletic v Ketton.
There was disappointment for top women’s clubs Peterborough Northern Star Ladies and Peterborough United Ladies as the competitions they are involved in were declared null and void for the 2020-21 season earlier this year with no promotions or relegations
Peterborough Northern Star had just reached the top of the Eastern Region Women’s Premier Division with six wins from eight matches.
Posh were top of the East Midlands Premier Division at the time of the abandonment having won four of their first six fixtures.
That’s two seasons in a row when both clubs have seen promising chances of promotion ruined by the coronavirus crisis.
