Stamford AFC need to find some form after a damp squib of a midweek display, big targets for Spalding United and Bourne Town

Stamford AFC are rapidly approaching the point of no return.

‘The Daniels’ 3-0 home loss to Worcester City in a Tuesday night Southern Premier Division Central fixture left them rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points from a place of safety.

Stamford delivered a disappointing display on the day manager Graham Drury celebrated his 10th anniversary at the Zeeco Stadium. He will be hoping for a bounce back at mid-table Leiston on Saturday.

"I don't think we had any energy or desire,” Drury told the Stamford Mercury after the Worcester defeat. “"It was completely chalk and cheese compared to the previous couple of performances. We went backwards.

"I asked for high intensity, high energy and a high press and I'm afraid that I got a damp squib.”

Title-chasing Spalding United are also seeking a bounce back after they lost their unbeaten home record to St Ives last weekend. ‘The Tulips’ also lost top spot to unbeaten rivals Harborough Town, although they will return to the summit if they win at 9th-placed Halesowen Town tomorrow as the leaders are in FA Trophy action.

Bourne Town have a chance to get out of the relegation zone in the Northern Premier Midlands Division tomorrow. They need to overtake two teams and they definitely go past Loughborough Students if they collect three points in Leicestershire.
