Stamford AFC have a spring in their step as they eye a great escape, home games for Spalding United and Bourne, derby day for FC Peterborough

Stamford AFC will approach a tough-looking Southern Premier Division Central fixture with a spring in their step.

Back-to-back wins have breathed life into a ‘Daniels’ campaign that had looked dead and buried. An 11-point gap to safety has quickly been reduced to six points ahead of a visit to the Zeeco Stadium from play-off chasing Needham Market on Saturday (3pm kick off).

A new-look strike force of power forwards Leon Lobjoit and Jack Duffy has been a massive help. Duffy, who was banned for 20 games after a post-match incident earlier this season, scored the only goal of last weekend’s win at Worcester City and he was on target again in Tuesday’ 3-2 home win over AFC Sudbury when Lobjoit scored twice.

Stamford boss Graham Drury said: “It’s four wins in seven games and the three teams we have lost to are Spalding who are top, Harborough who are second, and Redditch, who at the time were fourth. Credit to the lads as they are fighting.”
