Bostwick, who was captain for the day, was immense as Posh survived heavy second-half pressure before pinching a 2-1 League One win at Doncaster.

Ben Alnwick: Took a few chances with the ball at his feet, snatched at a few crosses, but made a couple of fine saves at his near post which kept Posh levelwhen under pressure in the second-half 6.5

Ricardo Santos: Showed great character to bounce back after he helped gift Doncaster an early goal. Played solidly thereafter at right-back and centre-back and popped up to score a late winner which sparked some great celebrations 6.5

Michael Smith: Played much better despite starting on the ‘wrong’ side of the back four. Didn’t offer a great deal going forward, but defensively very secure 6

Gaby Zakuani: He was playing fairly well until a mad couple of minutes when he was cautioned for a poor challenge and then almost dismissed straight away after committing another foul. Sensibly substituted straight away 6

Michael Bostwick: Another colossal performance from the centre-back. He was a magnet for Doncaster’s crosses and he cleared the ball effectively throughout. Some timely tackles on the edge of the Posh area and the one time he was found wanting, his goalkeeper baled him out. Outstanding 9

Chris Forrester: Still playing his way quietly back to form. Didn’t pass the ball with usual crispness or accuracy, but he saw out the 90 minutes well. Useful minutes in the bank after his recent injury 6

Harry Beautyman: A midfielder with a great attitude towards hard work and playing for the team. He constantly closed down opponents, winning possession back for his team as a result. He enjoyed some decent moments on the ball as well 7

Jon Taylor: A quiet display and no real surprise when he was taken off on the hour mark. Not sure the tip of a midfield diamond is his position. He’s more of a direct runner than a clever passer 5

Erhun Oztumer: A poor passing day for the little midfielder. His best moment was taking a caution when it looked certain Doncaster were going to break through. Substituted immediately 5

Marcus Maddison: Hugged the right touchline for most of the match and he managed to find a lot of space to worry the home defenders. Not all of his crossing was accurate, but he left the match with two assists. A key player right now 7

Aaron Williams: Plays with energy and no little pace. Made some good runs that weren’t always spotted by team-mates. Scored a predator’s goal and hit the post with a header in the build-up to the match-winning second goal 6.5
