Michael Bostwick believes a shock win in the FA Cup at Premier League West Brom tomorrow (January 30) will re-boot Peterborough United's promotion push in League One.

Posh go into the game at the Hawthorns on the back of two straight league defeats at Gillingham and at home to Burton Albion. Bostwick didn’t play in those matches because of a calf injury, but he’s expected to make his first appearance of 2016 tomorrow.

And that’s a boost for Posh as well as the player as the 27-year-old central defender has experience of causing big FA Cup shocks. He was part of Graham Westley’s Stevenage side from League Two that knocked top-flight Newcastle United out in a third round tie - he scored one of the goals in a 3-1 win.

“It was an amazing feeling scoring a goal and beating Newcastle,” Bostwick recalled. “And I’d love to experience it again tomorrow.

“The FA Cup is a great competition and everyone wants to experience the euphoria of a big shock. All the games we have left this season are massive, but if we can beat West Beom it should help us get going in the league again.

“Stevenage had a good season after beating Newcastle and I’m sure it would be the same for us.

“And if we play to our best, with a fast tempo, we definitely have a chance at West Brom. The lads are relishing the opporunity to prove themselves against good players and a good team.

“It’s been frustrating not being able to play in the last few games, especially as I only suffered a slight injury, but I then had a setback.

“I should be okay for tomorrow and I can’t wait. It will be a big crowd and a great atmosphere. We have thousands of travelling fans and that always helps us play better.

“I hope my experience of these matches is a help for the team. It’s all about performing on the day though. If we play to our potential there’s no reason why we can’t get the result we want.”
