The 20 year-old midfielder has faced a lengthy lay-off after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Posh’s 2-0 win over Luton Town in December.

However, Anderson is now ready to return to action and admits he can’t wait to get playing again.

“Straight after the injury i was obviously really disappointed but I soon picked myself up because I know that these things happen in football,” said Anderson.

“I have been focussed on getting myself fit and feel that when I look back in a few years my time out will have made me stronger.”

Anderson will now face a crucial pre-season campaign that will include trips to St George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national football centre to monitor and improve his fitness.

Anderson said: “I have been really busy in the gym getting myself in shape and I can’t wait till pre-season starts so I can start playing football again and joining in the with the rest of the squad.

“We have lots to look forward to next season and I’m really happy that Grant McCann has been appointed because he is someone that the whole squad has a good rapport with, but he can also be assertive.

“I am now focussed on doing everything I can over the summer to impress the management team to get in the starting line-up for the first game of the season.”

Posh will begin their pre-season friendlies with a trip to Boston on July 9.
