Posh boss Graham Westley has let Pledger go in order to bring a full-time defensive coach to the ABAX Stadium. That defensive coach will also be responsible for looking after the goalkeepers.

Westley said: “My decision is no reflection at all on Ian’s ability as a goalkeeping coach. He’s done a good job for us, but the budget doesn’t allow for us to have a defensive coach and a goalkeeping coach so I have decided to make a switch.

“I will bring in a defensive coach who will have responsibility for the goalkeepers as well.”

Westley, a striker in his playing days, and assistant manager Grant McCann, a high-class midfielder, will look after the coaching of the Posh forwards.
