Beautyman (24) signed a two-year deal with local rivals Northampton Town yesterday (July 21) after McCann made him available for transfer. Northampton have paid a nominal undisclosed fee and guaranteed Posh a healthy sell-on clause.

Beautyman said: “All managers have their own opinions, and their own styles of play or whatever. I played a lot of games under Darren Ferguson, I played a lot of games under Graham Westley, and it is just one of those things.

“That is football and it happens, but there are no hard feelings and no regrets, I am just excited about this move and what will happen now.”

“I had a really good time at Peterborough. The fans were good to me, the club was really good to me, but it got to the stage where we parted ways.

“That’s football for you, and it happens.

“I heard Northampton was interested, and I wanted to come here. As soon as I got here and looked around, it was a no-brainer for me.

“I have heard there is a rivalry. I am excited for any game, and I am going to treat every game exactly the same.

“Northampton have shown a lot of faith in me in bringing me here, and I am looking at repaying them and doing the best I can for the football club.”

Beautyman joins Gaby Zakuani as Posh players to have moved to Northampton this summer.

Posh host Cobblers in a League One match on Tuesday, October 18 with the return fixture at Sixfields on Saturday, November 19.
