But they wasted several scoring chances and many promising attacking positions before substitute Jonson Clarke-Harris came on to show his teammates how to do it.
One Posh player in particular continued his good recent form, but a couple of the back up boys did themselves few favours in the 1-1 draw, a result good enough to take Grant McCann’s men through to the second round of the EFL Trophy.
RATINGS KEY: 10 – Brilliant, 9- Outstanding, 8-Very Good, 7-Good, 6-Okay, 5-Poor, 4-Very poor
9. EPHRON MASON-CLARK
Started wide on the left and there were some promising moments on the ball in the first-half when his movement was good. Half a chance to score came and went and he lost his way a bit after the break before he was susbtituted 6.5. Photo: Joe Dent/theposh.com
10. JOEL RANDALL
Nothing's going right for this attacking player. He's getting into good positions, but lacks the confidence and control to find a finish. Missed a sitter early in the second-half and sacrificed after Posh fell behind 5. Photo: Joe Dent
11. JACK MARRIOTT
4-3-3 is not a system that suits his strengths. He worked hard, delivered one superb cross, but never had a sight of goal himself, even after Jonson Clarke-Harris came on to join him. 6. Photo: David Lowndes
12. BEN THOMPSON (for Randall, 63 mins)
Couldn't make things happen in his 30 minutes on the pitch despite plenty of industry 6. Photo: Joe Dent
