Watch out Peterborough United as a wounded Stockport County team is lying in wait
Peterborough United will be facing a wounded Stockport County side in their League One fixture at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
County missed a chance to consolidate their place in the play-offs when losing 1-0 at home to Mansfield Town on Tuesday night. They effectively need three points from their last three matches to confirm a top-six finish, the first of which is against Posh.

County boss Dave Challinor said: “I’m confident, and no-one can have any complaints around us knowing what we need to do, regardless of what happens elsewhere. We need one more win. We wanted to get it last night and now we need to try and get it this Saturday.
"We've now got two more home games coming up and we have to make sure we turn up and produce a performance on Saturday.
"Again, it doesn't have to be too dissimilar to what we did against Mansfield, but we need to be much better in the final third.”
CURRENT FORM
County have dropped points in two of their three League One games since losing the Vertu Trophy Final to Luton Town at Wembley. Exeter’s goalkeeper Jack Byfield scored an injury time equaliser against County in a 3-3 draw last weekend. County had won their four previous home games before the Mansfield defeat.
DANGER MEN
Forward Malik Mothersille has endured a difficult season since leaving Posh for County last season. He’s started just 13 League One matches, although he has started the last two and scored his second goal of the season at Exeter, almost nine months after his first.
Another old Posh player Tayo Edun has missed most of the season through injury, but is playing regularly at left-back now.
Kyle Wootton is County’s top scorer with 19 goals, although he has been playing as a centre-back in recent weeks to cover for a defensive injury crisis.
Former Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood is the team’s classiest performer. He’s on 10 goals, most of them direct from free kicks.
PAST MATCHES
County won this fixture 2-1 last season with a goal 15 minutes from time. Joe Randall had delivered a first-half equaliser for Posh. The home side has won this fixture 10 times with Posh winning on eight, out of 30, occasions.
The last Posh win was a 3-1 success in December, 2008 for a team heading for promotion to the Championship. Craig Mackail-Smith and two own goals won the day for Posh.
REF WATCH
Jacob Miles referees Stockport v Posh. He was in charge of the first Posh win of the League One season, 2-1 against Wycombe Wanders at the Weston Homes Stadium in September. He’s issued nine red cards and 114 yellow cards in 27 outings this season.
