Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony didn’t name the Posh player involved when discussing transfers on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast.

MacAnthony said: “We had a top seven Premier League club enquire about one of our younger players and I said you can sign him as long as you send him back to us for two seasons.

“It made sense to me for us to develop his game for a couple of years, but then the pandemic struck and that was the end of it.”

Jones is only 17, but has already been linked with a number of big clubs like Spurs, Arsenal and Leeds.

MacAnthony joked on Twitter he would be the club’s first £20 million sale.
