TV shows led to top owners for Peterborough United and Wrexham
The Hollywood takeover of Wrexham FC came about in much the same way Darragh MacAnthony became owner of Posh.
MacAnthony’s interest in Posh was sparked by the unintentionally hilarious ‘Big Ron, Manager’ documentary when ex-Manchester United boss Ron Atkinson was filmed trying to transform a struggling League Two club.

Ryan Reynolds first became aware of the Football League when he was told to watch the ‘Sunderland Til I Die’ documentary on Netflix by British actor and writer Humphrey Ker.
It persuaded the Deadpool star to make a football club documentary of his own and, after putting out several feelers, Wrexham was the club he finally decided to buy with his friend, and star of hit US comedy show ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ Rob McElhenney.

On his own arrival into the world of football, MacAnthony said: “My father rang me and told me to switch on Sky. ‘Big Ron Manager' was on and we were in stitches about what was going on.
"There were people falling over themselves, rowing and fighting, but what I liked about it was the passion of the club and the fact that Barry Fry is a well-known character in football."
MacAnthony turned out to be the perfect owner for Posh, while Wrexham also have little cause for complaint.
Neither club’s journey is over just yet either.
