According to Soccerbase, Ferguson has a 50.49 win percentage in his current spell, better than his two previous stints of 50.49% (2007-09) and 37.64% (2011-2015). He started his third spell just over two years ago.

Posh hos Wigan at the Weston Homes Stadium tomorrow (3pm) when Ferguson will be hoping to oversee his sixth win on the spin.

Wigan’s fight against the drop was given a huge boost by a 95th-minute winner from Scott Wootton at relegation rivals Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

Despite their lowly position Wigan have now won five away League One matches this season including at Portsmouth and Sunderland. Wigan also won a big game at fellow strugglers Northampton Town earlier this month.

Posh defender Scott Wootton and speedy winger Viv Solomon-Otabor are 2021 arrivals at Wigan. Wootton made just nine starts in two spells on loan at Posh from Manchester United in 2011 and 2013. Callum Lang is the in-form Wigan man to watch. He’s bagged four goals in his last five matches, inlucing a spectacular strike against Lincoln.
