Most suggest it’s going to be a season-long relegation battle unless improvement is found...
5. SHOT SHY
Unsurprisingly Posh have taken the fewest shots on goal of any Championship club this season. Posh have struck 88 shots in 11 matches compared to the staggering 182 taken by Fulham. The Posh tally of 27 on target is also the lowest in the division. QPR (66) boast the most, just one more than London rivals Fulham. Sammie Szmodics (pictured celebrating) showed what can happen when you take a punt from outside the area in the game against Bristol City.
6. MOST FOULED PLAYERS
Posh boss Darren Ferguson recently suggested star forward Siriki Dembele needed more protection from Championship referees, but perhaps surprisingly he’s not even the most fouled player in the squad this season. That ‘honour’ goes to defender Nathan Thompson (pictured) who has drawn 26 fouls in his 10 appearances compared to 22 from Dembele. In terms of minutes played it would be a draw between the pair who are lagging way behind Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare who has won 38 free kicks for his team, the most in the division, nine more than any other player.
7. SUPER SAVERS
Current Posh goalkeeper Dai Cornell (pictured) has kept clean sheets in two of his four Championship appearances. He has saved 64.7% of shots on target which compares favourably with the man he replaced, Christy Pym who was on 52.8% of shots saved at the time of his exile. Pym kept no clean sheets in seven starts. Derby County goalkeeper Ryan Allsop currently has a 100% save record from two matches!
8. DEFENSIVE DISASTER
Posh have big issues defensively as their 23 goals conceded is the worst in the Championship by four (Reading and Cardiff have both shipped 19 goals). Away from home it’s even worse with 16 goals conceded in just five matches (over three a game). Only Swansea and Reading (11) have also reached double figures. Unbeaten Bournemouth have conceded just one goal on their travels. Posh have faced 53 shots on target in 11 matches. Only Barnsley, Blackpool, Reading and Hull have faced more.
