The late, great Bob Doyle is inducted into Peterborough United's Hall of Fame

Peterborough United great Bob Doyle was posthumously inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame last weekend.

The classy midfielder made 156 appearances for Posh and scored 12 goals between 1976 and 1979.

He was twice named Posh ‘Player-of-the-Year,’ but a modest nature meant he was reluctant to accept one of the great club honours before he passed away in 2019.

But Posh were persistent and three generations of Doyle’s family were honoured to receive the Hall of Fame induction last weekend.

Wife Sue Doyle, children Craig Doyle and Kimberley Whelan, son-in law Adam Whelan and grandchildren Maisie and Billy Whelan were all present at the ceremony along with Posh historian Peter Lane and his wife Sandee.

Posh have previously awarded posthumous inductions to Noel Cantwell, Norman Rigby, George Swindin, Dennis Emery, Derek Dougan, Andy Donaldson, George Hair, Billy Hails and Alf Hand.
