Siriki Dembele’s scan results and Jack Taylor fitness update, but will they get back into the starting line-up after a seven-goal romp?

Posh star Siriki Dembele’s scan on an ongoing back problem has shown no serious damage.

Dembele was left out of Saturday’s 7-0 League One romp over Accrington Stanley at the Weston Homes Stadium (March 29).

But Posh boss Darren Ferguson is hopeful he will return to the squad for the tough Easter programme at Fleetwood on Good Friday and at home to automatic promotion rivals Sunderland.

Star midfielder Jack Taylor could also be back for the Fleetwood game following a hamstring injury, although whether or not either of them get back into the starting line-up is another matter after a performance against Accrington Ferguson described as ‘magnificent’.

Ferguson said: “Siriki has been for a scan and it showed no serious damage so we will see how he goes in the next few days. It’s the same with Jack Taylor who is well ahead of his recovery schedule and is looking very good. I won’t take any risk with any player though particularly with the two games over Easter so close together.

“It’s probaby done Siriki a favour to miss the game on Saturday so he can get more rest into his back, but the lads who did play delivered a magnificent display.

“Louis Reed was very good in midfield. He did well in his last game against Portsmouth, but I then left him out because I felt we would need more physicaility in two away matches.

“Louis is very composed and he moves the ball on quickly and usually positively.”

Teenage centre-back is due to return to training on Easter Sunday.
