Most are reportedly available as free agents or transfer listed players. Others could be prised from their current clubs for a sensible fee. All have been nominated by Posh fans on social media.
Here they are with a rating out of 10 for the likelihood of them pitching up at the Weston Homes Stadium ahead of the 2025-26 season.

5. NATHAN BAXTER 3/10
The former Chelsea goalkeeper is leaving Bolton Wanderers. No idea why anyone would think he would head to London Road as he'll probably be looking upwards to the Championship. Photo: Alex Pantling

6. OLIVER NORBURN - 1/10
This former Posh skipper has been released by Blackpool and there was a suggestion he could do a job at London Road again. Unlikely as he wanted to move back up North when he was playing for Posh in the Championship and at 32 he's far too old for us now. Photo: Stu Forster

7. JORDAN SHIPLEY - 4/10
A left-sided scorer of great goals and he's only 27 despite seemingly being around for ever. He's just been released by relegated Shrewsbury Town though so that suggests he's on the wane. Photo: Catherine Ivill

8. TOM LEES - 2/10
One fan felt this experienced centre-back would be ideal if Posh don't land Sam Hughes. Lees is available for nothing following his release by Huddersfield Town, but he's 34 and Posh, quite rightly in my opinion, aren't in the habit of handing out contracts to players of that age, even those who would offer a welcome threat from set pieces.
