Rotherham United boss fears for his job after 'rubbish' display against Peterborough United

Rotherham United manager Matt Hamshaw fears for his job after a 2-0 win for Peterborough United at the ASSEAL New York Stadium on New Year’s Day.

‘The Millers’ have now lost six League One matches in a row and sit 22nd in the table, albeit just three points from safety.

Rotherham have chronic injury issues, but the manager, who described the display as ‘rubbish,’ expected to see more spirit and desire from his side. Posh won the match with a Joe Rafferty own goal and a dine finish from substitute midfielder Brandon Khela.

Hamshaw told the Rotherham advertiser: “Today was rubbish. I'm fed up with saying the same things. I understand it. The fans are on my back and get that. We need characters, we need desire and we need spirit. That wasn't there today and it wasn't there the other night (in a 4-0 reverse at Blackpool). People say: ‘Oh, it's the manager's fault.’ I ‘get’ that, but there are deep-rooted issues here.

"We've lost six games on the spin. We've got a lot of players out and I can't play my best team. I feel horrific about it. Scrutiny on your job is always there.

“I'm feeling pressure. I understand the fans' frustration. It doesn't matter what I say now, because the fans don't want to hear it. I understand that as well. It's unacceptable at this moment.”
