'Refreshed' Peterborough United chairman on big-money bids and summer transfer targets
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has been persuaded to reveal some summer transfer plans on social media.
The club owner confessed to have taken drink while on holiday after making public his affection for manager Luke Williams on X on Wednesday night.

MacAnthony then became involved in a Q & A with fans who also had a thirst, but in their case for information.
MacAnthony revealed Posh had already signed a left-back to compete for a first-team place with Harley Mills next season. The chairman had previously confirmed he had signed an unnamed player on a pre-contract. That player was/is involved in a promotion campaign with his current club. A second left-back throws doubt on long-term injury victim Rio Adebisi’s future at the club and appears to confirm Jacob Mendy will leave London Road at the end of the season.
MacAnthony said his targets for the summer now are a replacement for midfielder Archie Collins, a back-up goalkeeper to Alex Bass, and a number 10 if Kiwi international Matty Garbett is sold in the summer.
The chairman disclosed Posh had turned down a £1.7 million from a League One club for Garbett in January. He expects bigger clubs to bid for the 23 year-old in the summer. Garbett is due to play for New Zealand in this summer’s World Cup.
Posh are also keen on securing veteran defender Tom Lees for another season.
Williams was questioned about his chairman’s revelations today. He said: “Nothing is set in stone. They are all ideas right now. We will be having an in-depth meeting about next season when this season is over.
"I enjoy working with the chairman. He wears his heart on his sleeve and what is always obvious is the love he has for his club. He is fair with me. I will get a message about five minutes after the end of each game and he asks a lot of questions of me, but that’s fine. I enjoy our relationship.”
