Potential Peterborough United players and their crazy contract requests

Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed some of the crazy contract requests potential signings have brought to the negotiating table at London Road.

“We had one player ask for 12 flights a year so his family could come and see him from abroad,” MacAnthony said on his popular ‘Hard Truth’ podcast.

“Another wanted a parent put on the club’s payroll and another wanted us to pay his lawyer fees for the divorce he was going through!

“ I have helped out players with legal problems before and I’ve helped them get a mortgage.

“I’ve also helped players with addictions.

“My door is always open to players with personal problems unless they want to slag a manager off as then I tell them to do one!

“I helped Grant McCann prep for his interview for the manager’s job at Donacster after he left us.

“It’s ok to have disagreements in football, but there is no point in holding grudges.

“There is a lot of mutual respect between me and a lot of the players/ managers I have employed in the past and that’s partly down to the fact that I always help them when I can.”
