Posh want a new goalkeeper, but it won’t be Bursik

Peterborough United are seeking a new goalkeeper for next season...but it won’t be highly-rated Stoke City number one Josef Bursik.

The 20 year-old made a very favourable impression on loan at London Road towards the back end of last season and Posh need a ‘keeper after placing regular back-up Dan Gyollai on the transfer list this week.

But England age-group international Bursik is expected to be in Stoke’s matchday squad in the Championship next season. “Josef was on the bench for Stoke last weekend.” Posh director of football Barry Fry said.

“And Stoke expect him to be challenging for a starting place next season so he won’t be coming back.

“We are in the market for a goalkeeper though as we need someone to challenge Christy Pym.

“Ideally we would get someone of a good size as there are some big and strong players in the Championship.”

Posh also have Academy graduate ‘keeper Will Blackmore on their books.
