But second (or even third) comings are not always successful in football.
Here we look at some of the other players who have experienced more than one spell at London Road.

1.
LEON MCKENZIE followed a successful loan spell in 1998 with a terrific stint as a full-time Posh player between 2000 and 2003 and fully deserved his big-money move to Norwich City. Verdict: Hit

2.
GABY ZAKUANI was a rock at the heart of the Posh defence in the promotion campaigns of 2008-09 and 2010-11. He left for Greek football in 2014 and came back to London Road six months later and he was still solid and reliable. Verdict: Split decision

3.
DAVID GREGORY: There were 10 years between the Chatteris man leaving Posh and returning and although the dash had gone he still scored regularly. Verdict: Split decision. Photo: Midlands

4.
PAUL TAYLOR: The exciting forward was quite brilliant for Posh in his first season at the club in 2011-12 to win a £1.5 million move to Ipswich, but very poor in his two spells that followed. Verdict: Miss. Photo: Midlands
