Posh fielded a much-weakened side and were defeated 2-0 by a motivated Cheltenham side who kept themselves alive in League One with victory.
Posh are now set to finish fourth in the table unless they record an unlikely thumping of Bolton on the final day.

He made the call not to chase a very slim chance at the automatic places and prioritise resting his stars. It's far too easy to criticise after the fact because they did not fare well. Posh could have easily fielded a strong side, won by a couple and still failed to go up automatically. He did not have the temptation to throw on the main men as he did not bring them, except for Hector Kyprianou- but he did not call for him either. Not much he could do so just let the game play out. Not playing Daley-Campbell for any minutes seems a bizarre call though. 7. Photo: Joe Dent
