Peterborough United’s first-team teenagers are staying put, but several under 18s have left the club on loan

Peterborough United have decided against sending their talented teenagers in the first-team squad out on loan for the rest of the season.

It had been thought Harrison Burrows and Kyle Barker would leave Posh for a spell following the arrival of midfield newcomers Reece Brown and Jack Taylor, plus the return from injury of Josh Knight.

It’s unlikely Burrows or Barker will play again this season while Posh are in contention for promotion.

Centre-back Sam Cartwright is another who can expect chances to be limited for the rest of the season.

Striker Ricky-Jade Jones (17) is amatchday squad regular.

But Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: “We feel the youngsters will benefit from being around the first-team squad while they are pushing for promotion. It should be a great experience for them.”

Posh have sent several of their title-winning under 18 squad out on loan with striker Brad Rolt moving to Welling United of National League South.

Other players on the move are Toby Salmon (Yaxley), Khaya Roudette-Gregory (Wisbech), Josh Allen (Wisbech), Nathan Rudman (Wisbech), Taylor Horne (Deeping Rangers) and Sean Rudzvidzo (Lutterworth).

Posh Under 18s, who won a Youth Alliance League title for the first time this season, now enter a Merit League for the rest of this campaign and their first game is at home to Yeovil on Saturday (February 15).
