The players, Ferguson, plus one coach and sports science staff will be taken off furlough to enable them to take part in the project. The club will pay for Covid-19 testing twice a week for all involved, while the training ground will be upgraded to to ensure all facilities meet the standards required to thwart the coronavirus.

Training will take place daily. A date for the senior players to return to training will be set when the club knows when the new campaign will start. The EFL are due to discuss a start date with clubs this week.

MacAnthony has confirmed the plans to the Peterborough Telegraph. MacAnthony instigated the idea believing it would be of massive benefit to this generation of Posh youngsters to have the chance to improve technically, physically and mentally by receiving one-on-one attention from the manager.

It has cost the club around £50k to set up, but MacAnthony and his partners are determined to have the entire squad in prime shape for when competitive football returns. They believe football must return at the earliest opportunity.

The partners believe at least half-a-dozen of the named young players will be first-team squad regulars next season.
