Peterborough United’s big boost on the injury front and team news ahead of the Burton game

Peterborough United have received a big boost with classy centre-back Frankie Kent set to return to action in the League One game at Bolton on March 14.

Kent underwent a knee operation after picking up an injury in the 4-0 win over Oxford at the Weston Homes Stadium on February 8.

It was initially feared Kent would miss the rest of the season, but instead he will be back in a fortnight.

“I did fear the worst when Frankie picked up the injury so to have him back in six weeks is a best-case scenario,” Posh manager Darren Ferguson said.

Ferguson is still wrestling with suspended top scorer Ivan Toney’s replacement. Mo Eisa stood in for Toney in the last Posh match, a 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood, but performed poorly.

“I know the formation I am going to play, but I don’t know who plays up front,” Ferguson added. “It will be two from Siriki Dembele, Idris Kanu and Mo, or I could play Sammie Szmodics further forward and bring someone else in as a number 10.

“We have enough in the squad to cope without Ivan. We know if we play to our best we are a hard team to stop, but Burton are capable of playing very well. They are very flexible and very dangerous.

“But we will be going all out for the win. We are one of 10 teams who still think they can finish in the top two, but we are going to have to win a lot of games to get there.”
