It’s a clash between second and third and so one of the most important matches in Posh history.
The perfect opportunity then to see how Posh fared in some of the other biggest matches in the club’s Football League history.
We’ve excluded play-off games to concentrate on the regular season ‘biggies.’

March, 1989. Division Four. Posh 3, Colchester 0. Posh were in danger of relegation from the entire Football League in the 1988-89 season. They'd won one of 15 matches when relegation rivals Colchester turned up at London Road late in March. TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham recalled: "It felt like it was between us, Colchester and Darlington for the one relegation place. Very nervy, our home record was awful and it felt like a must-win game as the consequences of defeat could have been disastrous. We were 1-0 up through an own goal and then the late David Longhurst (pictured) scored two late goals to seal a big, big win. We then won five of our last 10 games to stay up.' Colchester also survived. Darlington went down. Photo: Midlands

April, 1982, Division Four. Posh 0, Sheffield United 4. More than 13,000 turned up on a Tuesday night at London Road to see in-form and high-flying Posh take on leaders Sheffield United. Posh had beaten promotion rivals Bradford City 2-0 at home the Saturday before, but the Blades were a different class and raced into a 3-0 half-time lead. Posh were humbled and so shell-shocked they lost at bottom three side Northampton the following Saturday and went on to pick up just one point from their remaining six matches. Posh finished fifth in the days before play-offs and missed out on promotion by six points. Peter Morris (pictured) was the Posh boss. Photo: Midlands

May, 197, Division Four. Posh 4, Gillingham 2. The Fourth Division title decider was a superb game in front of over 17,000 fans at London Road. Posh fell behind early, but won 4-2 thanks to two goals from top scorer and skipper John Cozens, a Jeff Lee penalty and a Chris Turner goal. Posh finished three points clear of runners-up Gillingham.
