Hide AdWard was substituted early in the second-half of Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Blackpool and will undergo a small operation next Monday.
Summer signing Ryan Broom or Idris Kanu will replace Ward against Plymouth.
“We could tell Joe wasn’t right during the Blackpool game,” Posh boss Darren Ferguson said. “He wasn’t playing with his usual energy so he will have a small operation and miss all the games leading up to Christmas.

“We could go with Ryan or with Idris tomorrow. We signed Ryan for a reason in the summer. He’s a very good player who is used to playing regularly and he just needs to remember why we brought him and play like he can.”
Defender Nathan Thompson and teenage forwards Flynn Clarke and Ricky-Jade Jones will also miss tomorrow’s game.
