Clubs have been asked for their views on new season dates of either August 29-May 8 or September 12-May 22 ahead of an EFL meeting on Monday (July 13).

The clubs will then vote for their preferred date next Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s expected clubs will vote for the September 12 start date.

It has now been proposed that the Carabao Cup first round will be played on the weekend before the first Football League matches.

Posh are planning to recall their senior players to start pre-season training on July 20 with a pre-season tour to Spain or Portugal pencilled in for August.

Clubs were warned they would lose TV money and solidarity payments if they started the season any later.
