Peterborough United old boys: Two-goal Gwion fires Ipswich Town to the top of the table, Rovers return from Lincoln with three points despite Baldwin own goal, joy for most ex-Posh managers

Edwards also claimed an assist in an impressive 4-1 win for the unbeaten Tractor Boys at Blackpool.

Ipswich moved above Hull City and Lincoln City who both lost their 100 per cent winning records.

Grant McCann’s Hull were thumped 4-1 on Friday night which enabled the former Posh midfielder and manager to get to Sixfields to spy on Posh. Posh are at Hull on October 24.

Lincoln surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers despite taking the lead early in the second-half through an own goal from former Posh captain Jack Baldwin.

Steve Evans’ Gillingham beat Oxford 3-1 at Priestfield and are fourth in League One, but Russell Martin’s MK Dons went down 2-1 at Portsmouth and have slumped to the bottom of the table.

George Cooper claimed an assist as Plymouth beat struggling Burton 2-0 at Home Park.

In the National League former Posh folk Jim Gannon (Stockport), Gary Johnson (Torquay) and Dean Keates (Wrexham) all enjoyed wins as managers against Bromley, Dover and Yeovil respectively.
