Peterborough United now have a great chance of drawing a Premier League club in the Carabao Cup

Peterborough United have a strong chance of drawing a Premier League club in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Posh booked their place in the last 16 with a dramatic penalty shootout win against League One rivals Barnsley on Tuesday night. It’s the first time Posh have reached this stage since 2009 when they were beaten 5-2 at Blackburn Rovers, who were then a Premier League side.

Posh and Bradford City are the only two clubs to have confirmed a fourth round spot, although a third will definitely join them as Fleetwood of League Two host Sheffield United of the Championship tonight.

Wolves and Norwich City are also still in the competition, although they would need to beat Everton and Manchester City respectively to join Posh in round four.

The Premier League teams through so far are: Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brentford, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Sunderland. Coventry City tackle Aston Villa and Manchester United face Brighton tonight.

The fourth round draw will be shown live on BT Sport after the match at Old Trafford (approximately 10.15pm). City host Norwich on Thursday.

The fourth round ties are scheduled for the week beginning October 26. Posh will be ball number 10 in the draw.
