Ferguson is considering first-team recalls for summer signing Ryan Broom and club record signing Mo Eisa.

Left-sided defender Frazer Blake-Tracy is also pushing for his first start in a League One game this season.

Midfielder Jack Taylor will probably return to the side in place of Louis Reed for the visit of Blackpool on Saturday (21) after missing the Crewe game, providing he passes a Covid test following his international excursion with Ireland.

Defender Nathan Thompson remains sidelined with a hamstring issue, but could return for the AFC Wimbledon trip on December 1.

Teenage forward Ricky Jade-Jones is not expected to be fit following leg surgery until later in December.

“Obviously I couldn’t let the level of performance at Crewe continue and not make changes,” Ferguson said.

“Ryan Broom is one who is close to playing as is Mo Eisa and there will be changes very soon if we keep playing like we did last weekend.”

It sounds like Ferguson will give the Crewe team another chance, although Blake-Tracy could come into the starting line-up ahead of Niall Mason if Posh switch to three centre-backs to counter the threat of Blackpool’s direct style of play.

Blake-Tracy would give the Posh defence balance and greater physicaliity.
