Peterborough United hope to play in an under 23 League next season.
Posh hope to have their category 2 status confirmed in time for next season which enables them to play in a 30-game under 23 competition.
“Youngsters and older players not involved in first team matches will make up the under 23 team,” Posh director of football Barry Fry said. “It will keep everyone sharp and match fit which can only help the first team.”
Posh have a commitment to promoting youth players from the Academy.
Posh have already handed professional contracts to youth team players Will Blackmore, Benjamin Mensah, Hameed Ishola and Dave Bodie who formed part of an under 18 squad that retained their Youth Alliance title this season.
