Birmingham City became odds on favourites at 8/11 with Sky Bet after their recent win over Wrexham.
They are a big club by League One standards and they’ve flexed some serious financial muscle following their relegation from the Championship last season.
But it’s nothing Posh haven’t faced, and beaten, before at this level in the Darragh MacAnthony/Darren Ferguson eras. Here are some of the most memorable wins against the big boys in League One.
13. Posh 2, Derby 0, 2023
Goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Nathanael Ogbeta (pictured celebrating) secured a win at London Road against rivals for a play-off place. Posh eventually pipped Derby for a place in the post-season fun on the final day of the season. Photo: David Lowndes
14. Derby 2, Posh 3, 2024.
Last season Posh came from behind twice to win in front of almost 30,000 fans at Pride Park. Harrison Burrows (pictured), Kwame Poku and Ricky-Jade Jones scored the goals. Derby went on to win automatic promotion though and Posh missed out in the play-offs for the second season in a row. Photo: Joe Dent
