Peterborough United fans urged to celebrate at home if team wins promotion tonight

Posh will be heading back to the second tier of English football with a win against Doncaster Rovers at home tonight (kick off at 7.45pm) - and could even be promoted if they don’t pick up three points and results elsewhere go their way.

But unlike in other years, fans are being urged to stay at home if they do get the results they need.

A Peterborough United spokesman said; “We would urge supporters to celebrate safely at home if we should succeed in our aim to get promotion.

“We understand that supporters would want to celebrate any success but remind fans that we are still very much in a pandemic and safety and the health of everyone is our priority.”

Posh Promotion Permutations for tonight:

If Posh win, they are promoted.

If Posh draw, and Lincoln fail to win, Posh are promoted

If Posh lose, and Lincoln lose and Sunderland fail to win, Posh are promoted.

Otherwise, they have two games to secure promotion - against Lincoln at home on Saturday, and against Doncaster away on May 9.
