Wigan host Sunderland in League One (6pm kick off) and if the Wearsiders fail to win their game in hand on Posh it would leave Darren Ferguson’s side as firm favourites to win automatic promotion to the Championship alongside current leaders Hull.

Sunderland are currently five points behind Posh and eight behind Hull. Posh and Sunderland will have six games to play after tonight, while Hull have five games remaining.

Wigan go into tonight’s contest in fine fettle having won 4-1 at Doncaster on Saturday while Sunderland were losing for the first time in 13 games, 2-1 at home to Charlton.

A win for Wigan and a point for AFC Wimbledon in their home game against Ipswich Town would drop Northampton Town into he relegation zone ahead of their trip to the Weston Homes Stadium on Friday (April 16, 7pm). Next-to-bottom Swindon would also overtake Cobblers if they win by three goals at bottom club Rochdale.

Play-off chasing Portsmouth (away to Crewe), Blackpool (home to Accrington), Lincoln (home to MK Dons) and Oxford (home to Shrewsbury) are also in action tonight.
